Minister: Hungary not to support sanctions hurting gas imports

MOSCOW, Jun 8 (PRIME) -- Hungary will not support the sanctions that undermine gas supplies to the country, Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said on Wednesday.

"Had we not won exemption for pipeline oil supplies, the fuel prices in Hungary would have grown by 55–60%. Besides, the results of public utilities fee decline would have been threatened,” he said.

“We did not let it happen, we fought for our truth, and we will keep on doing this, we want you to know -- Hungary will not support any sanctions if gas supplies to the country are threatened."

Several European politicians, including Estonia's Prime Minister Kaja Kallas and Poland's Deputy Foreign Minister Pawel Jablonski, earlier said that the seventh package of sanctions against Russia will ban Russian gas.
